cuti2 malaysia : waterfalls

borned & bred in johor, the only waterfall i've ever been to was the one at Kota Tinggi. that is, until yesterday.

our CG made a day trip to the Sagil Waterfalls located by the famed Gunung Ledang, the highest peak in Johor. it's uncanny how hundreds of other people had the same holiday plan, because this was the scene that greeted us when we reached there just after 10am.

tents were already set up & cooking was in full swing.

we climbed up the steps by the waterfall for about 20mins.....

...before settling at a rather uneven spot by the pool. after laying out the mats & bubble-wraps (good idea, huh?)....

...it was time for an early lunch.

the kids didn't waste any time getting into the water...

& what a splashing good time they had!!

the guys did pick up a tip, though. a group of campers showed us crystalline-like stones called batu damar which can be dug out from the ground...

...& which can be ignited, much like charcoal, & used as fire for heating....

hey, who says you can't learn anything from local holidays?? weather was fine all day. we left by 3pm & were safely home in time for dinner.

we all ought to do this more often.

Wow! A nice trip to the waterfall... I learnt something new too that you could get some crystal form called Batu Damar for heating...

The place was packed with people ... traffic must be busy on the highway eh!...

tz,

the place was probably packed with people living in the surrounding districts, eg. tangkak, segamat, because the highway was clear all the way.

sbanboy,

i forgot to mention that we have to pay for entrance now - RM2 per car, plus RM1 per adult & 50sen for kids.

times HAVE change, yes?

but really, we enjoyed ourselves.

iml,

yes, waterfall is fun but you have to get out of that little dot on the map to enjoy one.
