she will miss him

i couldn't figure this out - how come they still have sibling rivalry despite being borned 8 years apart? the boy, i can understand because he is still a kid, but my daughter was already a teenager then. & ever so often, as parents, we had to mediate between the warring factions.

be that as it may, of late, the girl had noticeably mellowed down. sometimes, when they talked, i could see from the corner of my eyes that she has started hugging him & kissing him on the cheeks.

i think she has begun to miss him already. isn't it often that we don't realise what we have till they're out of sight?

It is due to their bonding... family between, parents, son and daughter... u have brought them up very well, that is why the close relationship is obvious there... but not to worry, this bonding will be forever in their hearts!
All the best to your girl and God Bless her every moves!

Trust me, both will miss each other. More so for the brother. The broken daily routine will see him missing sister.

that's sweet. The rivalry would have been worse had their age gap been closer, like me and my brother. I think she's just experiencing some pangs of jealousy that she's no longer the only child whom the parents are paying their attention to. Girls are more prone to that cos' they are more emotional. As she matures, she will be able to deal with this better, and I think he will always look up to her in years to come.

Jo,

there's something bitter-sweet about sibling rivalry.

it's true what you said - the elder girl might have perceived that the attention she has previouly commanded has since shifted to the little boy. i'm certain the dynamics will again change, now that she's leaving home.

absence definitely will make the heart grow fonder.

Mich,

presumably that happens in every family. did your brother miss you much when you left home?
