best ribs?

tony roma's are well-known for their ribs. yesterday, we were at the sunway pyramid outlet for lunch & i have to say their trademark beef ribs looked & tasted great - so succulent, you can just bite the meat off the bone.

and it goes with 4 different sauces, barbeque & honey amongst others, to enhance its flavour.....
the portions were quite large & even though we had the standard order, we were left satiated...
we were here because we were given some vouchers & normally, the ribs would cost, at least to me, an arm & a leg. but where else can you feast on what's often regarded as the best ribs in town?

ps. this is NOT a paid post

the food there is not bad. If you go and join their FB, they will send you birthday vouchers or something like that

S.Kucing,

thanks for the tip.

TR will still remain a once-a-year treat.

WOW! It has been awhile since we went to TR for ribs. Have been baking pork ribs in the cast-iron french oven at home instead. Last time we went, The Husband had bad reflux. Perhaps it was too rich for him. :(

I havent tried Tony before.. none in IPOH unfortunately.. by the way, why once a year affair only in Tony? :)

Cara,

i stand corrected - the best ribs are probably the home-baked ones. any chance to sample some of yours?

;)

perhaps the Hubs had one rib too many. perhaps he has GERD. if it recurs, he should get it checked.

Ilene,

apparently there are 3 outlets now - Sunway, Cineleisure & Gardens.

Methinks he is just so pampered that's all. *lol* That, plus the fact he prefers pork ribs (which you can get at TR in Spore)

The ones I do at home are pretty basic. Fresh pork ribs from the butcher and marinated overnight in crushed ginger & garlic, hoisin sauce, Maggi chilli & tomato sauce and some honey. Everything is "agak-agak". If you dun have an iron cast french oven, you can just wrapped it in foil and baked it in medium heat of 160-200 deg for an hour. Once it's cook, do not open the foil immediately. Instead, leave the ribs to "rest" for another 30mins before serving.

Cara,

aren't all men like that?

yes, i remember the outlet at suntec city. still, i went for the beef ribs.

thanks for the tip. you obviously can cook up a storm as well.

Claire,

unfortunately, all TRs outlets are in klang valley.

and, only once a year because each time, it costs an arm & a leg.

;)

And because I read this, I went last night. It's nice and probably, the first ever expensive meal that I have paid from my own pocket.

It's nice, satisfying. But, I am loaded with guilt - for the three pieces of ribs I took and the bill I paid.

Yan,

aiyah, once in a while, just pamper yourself-lah;

or else you'd be left wondering if i was exaggerating about the ribs.

so, was it the best ribs you've tasted?

Yan said...

Yes, it's.

I whispered to my colleague, "I wonder if they put those meat on the bones! Or, how can we just bite the meat off the bone?"

Yes, we need to pamper ourselves once in a while.

But, it's pretty difficult for me to spend so much money on food!

Yan,

now that you've pampered yourself with food, after a "break," go get that pair of shoes, handbag or dress that you've been eyeing.

Indeed, I have every reason to - at a time of such economic downturn, I have been given a real "fat bonus" from the boss. Ahem, just can't believe it and I really laughed all the way to the bank.

But, it came only after my city hopping. Or I would not feel so painful when Chris (son) had to take three bowls of rice, Rachel, two portions with a meal in HK costing me HKD300 to HKD600!

Yes, I did get a CD handbag in Singapore using Singapore dollars which I had earned earlier while in Singapore some 20 over years ago. My first branded handbag. It was not the sales assistant who sold me the bag, it was my sister and my bro-in-law who talked me into treating myself better!

Having said that - I may be quite controlled in my spending on myself, I am in fact a generous person when coming to the needs of others. I am!

Yan,

you remind me of my colleague who would stinge on his family but is very generous when helping out the church.
