do you want to be a doctor?

i received a few queries from SPM-leavers enquiring about qualifying for med school & life as a doctor. as it happened, there is an excellent elaboration on this issue written by a physician in the form of a letter to a prospective medical student. all interested students should read it here.

i can vouch for Dr Wong's impeccable credentials. he was an excellent med student & i am proud to have been his classmate.

If I was asked the question, I'd tell them to be prepared. High chances of becoming jaded by the first year of practicing medicine in Malaysia. It's like a vicious cycle that all my friends who graduated from med school and now serving their housemanship/MO-ship go through. All their previous enthusiasm and idealism are lost. :P

Yvonne,

that's true. if the passion & commitment was not there in the 1st place, they could get jaded even in 1st year of med sch.

i know i was.

you were jaded? hmm, my 1st month in med school is a nightmare. i totally have no motivation to study at all.

Tempus,

that's because your passion is not in human medicine.

will you change your destiny?

Tempus,

either get on with it, or change course.

a shrink will charge you for the same advice.

Tempus,

i wonder if it's more difficult to share your deepest fears with someone of the opposite gender??

actually, im ok with girls more than boys. I was like the girl magnet in school, not because of looks and all, but because the girls relate VERY easily to men, same goes to adult females.

No idea why, probably I'm very much intact with the feminine side of mine.
