we did break journey though, at Ipoh where we met up over lunch with cousins who visited from UK....

1st order of business after breakfast the next day had to be .....the famous Penang Road cendol, where there's always a crowd...

for me, 1 bowl is never enough.....

can you blame me? just look at the big beans & cendol screaming,"Eat me! Eat me!"

all for just RM1.60 a bowl.
after a late afternoon hike up penang hill, it's time to check out the latest steam-boat joint at McAllister Rd...

the varieties were just mind-boggling....

with choice of clear or tomyam soup, or hotplate....

then, there's the fried kuay teow stall....

it's NOT penang without lap cheong....

& the lok lok stall...

& the ais kacang....

all for RM17.90 per pax, this looked a good deal - just see the crowd...

& this is just 2 days into penang.....burp! excuse me.

Mich,
no, i didn't sapu a lot, just a little more than usual. at my age, all the extra will add to the waistline!!
& i dare not weigh myself!
Was caught in the massive jam at the bridge too. Wow!!! you sure don't waste time checking out all the yummy spots!
Iml,
i think if you don't eat well when you're in Penang, you'd have missed out experiencing the soul & savouring the essence of this island.
until this yr, i'd always thought lap cheong was a kl addition.
Very well said!! A true blue Penang Fan
Anastasia,
that stall in KL was probably called Penang Char Kway Teow!
Iml,
all very ironic considering i was born & bred in JB.
oh u were in Penang when i was in pnang. i missed the chanz. I had thought of informing u of my visit. even on the way from KL to Seremban i mentioned it to TZ but it was last minute so I thought it might not b convenient for u.
Thanks for making the effort to make the arrangements. Happy new year to u and yr family.
Beng,
next time then. Blessed New Year to you & your family!!
