pound of flesh

i would say, it's been a difficult year for the girl. away from home, living with friends & not family, taking bus to school & trying to cope with a  high-strung education system.

given the trying circumstances, i think she's done remarkably well & she knows that, too. that's why she's come out with her year-end wish list. starting with this pair of nike sneakers....

the list includes a swatch & some clothes. i jokingly told her it's that time of the year again to take that pound of flesh from me.

seriously, i shouldn't complain. there's still no sign of an iPhone, iPad or dSLR on that list.

yet.

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! matt 7:11

Gifts from God are different from daddy's gifts leh. That's a nice sneaker! A matching schoolbag will be cool!

Yvonne,

she's been eyeing this pair for some time. for better or for worse, she's become brand-conscious.

UG,

i know she's been also eyeing the iPhone for some time but for now, considered it a luxury than a need. i anticipate she'll expressed her intention after the exams next year.

Jems,

amen.

She can depend on both her earthly Father and Heavenly Father to provide :-p

btw, the iPhone is not that expensive in Singapore. ;-P

Then you better start saving for an ipohone. :D So that when she takes another pound of flesh from you, you won't end up skinny.

I like that quote from Matthew

Keropok Man,

heavy is the shoulder that bears that responsibility.

yes, it's surprisingly affordable with the various call/data plans.

Yvonne,

rm5 a day should do the trick!

Ilene,

hopefully, ask within reason!!

Eugene,

it's a good verse for all fathers.

The shoes look good!! When I was her age, I loved Swatch too! Just last weekend when I was in Zurich and Swatch was actually cheaper there.. but it just felt so distant.. there is no longer that childhood dreams of getting Swatches compared to the now adult me. I am still going around without watches.. what hospital policy of bare below elbow!!

LX,

pink shoes & pink watches....ah, what girl wouldn't like that? despite having grown up, i'm sure there's still a little girl in you.

i also don't wear a watch or a tie when i'm at work - it's a source of cross-contamination.

"For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"

people are all quoting scriptures out of context. LOL

the student plans are so cheap! all the 'unlimited' that they throw in. I think the telcos are trying to get kids hooked!

Keropok Man,

no wonder the kids in s'pore have the latest & fanciful handphones!
