I met one some 23 years ago - and now he is serving jail term or has finished his jail term or appealing for the jail sentence, I lost track.

Coincidentally, one was in yesterday's paper. He has been suspended for 3 months. He said too little for want of more time to see more patients and conduct more surgeries.

Yes I have met one in the neighborhood private hospital. A neurosurgeon. I later learned that he screwed up my NF2 friend's spine many years ago. My friend's family contemplated suing him but after discussing with lawyers, the family decided that it's just not worth suing doctors in bolehland. Might as well save her own life and invest the resources to obtain better medical treatments abroad.

I've met him and he really qualifies on all three counts - bad mouth, bad heart, bad attitude.

OH WOW! I clicked over from mylongkang and LOVE YER BLOG!!!!

I have wonderful, WONDERFUL docs that are for primary care. Sadly I've encountered some yuckies in the ER. Then again, it must be difficult to read patients sometimes, as we all have such different personalities and deal with things very, very differently. Different sense of humor too...

1. my late sis in law's oncologist bad mood days were more often than good ones *&%^$)!, the same one who left his family high & dry 2yrs ago.

2. a neurosurgeon (a political frog too) who told late sil family - husband, his bro + my hubby when she had mets to the brain & in ICU, "Cut now or die and don't cut also die" when husband's bro asks risk or benefit of surgery, doc raised voice "Who are You?". The bro, an accountant from DownUnder back for hol, felt small, later we kidded next time don't wear slipper to private hosp !

3. a MO chided leaving us with child like feeling after scoldings by Disciplinary Teacher, when asked about availability of genetic test "If you have Cancer, there is nothing anyone can do about it as its God's will & genetic testing is not going to help" She's nose in the air type.

4. a MO or houseman (can't diff) at my hometown GH raised her voice & tells me to bring my father to private hospital if want to speed up surgery, he was hospitalised like more than a week. All I ask was when surgery due! The ortho ward is one of worst I've seen, the patients left to fend for themselves, one policeman was there more than 1mth after fall from tree, fractured his arm and still waiting for surgery date.

5. A doctor scolded me loud & clear in front of MO's & my ailing aunt, when I ask nicely "How come she (aunt) is given Tamoxifen for past 2 days when another doc says no drugs or chemo due to anorexic state"
Doc "Don't Judge us. I am the specialist here" (raised voice)
Me "I'm not judging you all, just wanna know why Tamoxifen. A friend with breast ca was warned about uterus ca risk" (ailing aunt had)
The doc realised her mistake when she checked with nurse who confirmed drug was prescribed without her knowledge. The said drug was withdrawn very next day! Late aunt confided once she overheard senior prof scolding someone "You want to kill the patient is it?" Aunt got scared.

Do they qualify as docs from Hell?

doc,

He treated me when I had a miscarriage. Imagine the whole town knew that you have retroverted uterus? Imagine at a high society dinner he said this to my dad-in-law who was hosting the dinner, "Your daughter-in-law's uterus is the same as his daughter's uterus which is retroverted and difficult to conceive."

I felt like my uterus was put on the dining table for people to view!

Plenty of those here doc, especially in government hospitals but harder to find in private hospitals ;). Once a young girl I knew was admitted and I asked the doctor who was doing his round, what was the diagnosis since nobody has informed them. The family has no idea whether it was malaria, dengue or thyphus since they were asked to do all the tests a few days before. The doctor just sniggered, rolled his eyes and walked away. I was like, err..what had just happened.

MissyC,

thanks for elaborating. that's quite a few doctors who won't be on your christmas mailing list!

in govt hosps, the ortho patients have a low priority on the OT schedule. esp. if they don't have an open wound or compound fracture.

i can identify with the senior prof who scolded someone for attempting to kill a patient.

Yan,

oh dear! now that you've commented here, the whole bloggosphere will know of your condition!

doc said...

Anny,

i now roll my eyes at the doctor for not explaining!

Yan said...

doc,

Ha, ha! I have grown out of that pains after having Rach and Chris. Thus able to relate it here!

Yan,

i didn't know your FIL is a high society person!
