Aesop's Fables

Aesop's fables are famed throughout the world for their clarity & the moral behind each tale. i have a faint recollection of being told The Tortoise & The Hare, The Fox & the Grapes, The Lion & The Mouse, amongst others. so when Jim West's Puppets came to town, i thought it would be a good excuse for a family day-out.

Jim's props are all are self-made, mainly from painted card-boards & cut-out boxes. he's even thrown in a hand-shadow show for good measure. the fables are told in simple language, to the music of Scarlatti & Beethoven. after the 1-hr show, Jim obliged to a photo-shoot...

...and an autographed souvenir poster.

bangsar shopping centre also has a Times bookstore with a huge children section :

a boy's paradise....& i need to redeem a voucher as well.

next, it's off to 1-utama where the girl wanted to get her pair of skechers. i had feared i had to go round & round for a parking space, this being lunchtime on a weekend, when this nice lady indicated to me she was leaving. things are indeed looking up! except that the girl can't find a pair that she likes or has her size. so in the end she opted for a nike instead...

under normal circumstances, i wouldn't have consented to the purchase, but since she claimed to have done "quite well" in the year-end exams, i relented.

i had to admit that the xmas decorations were quite good.

If there's anything I miss about Malaysia, it's One Utama, I think I grew up there!

anastasia,

if there's anything i particularly like about 1-utama, it's the RM1 parking, but i can't say the same for KLCC!!

My daughter has her first pay check of RM420 a day before we left for holiday. Knowing how hard it's to earn that money, she was looking at the price-tags through a magnifying lens :)

Spending on a good pairs of shoes will go a long way for a growing child. I think that's a good choice! Smart daddy!

just me,

we were at 1-utama only because the girl wanted the skechers & the outlet there is larger than the one at midvalley.

of course, the RM1 parking helped as well.

yan,

you may think i'm smart but the girl will disagree with you. just today, she wanted to buy a meg cabot book (girlie romance stuff) but i didn't agree. in the end, she said she'll pay from her own pocket - only then did i give consent.

i've told her before that if she wanted educational or serious fiction books, then it's ok with me, but i'm limiting the romance books. i recall that when i was her age, i was reading nancy drew, hardy boys & tom swift series. has times changed so drastically??

beng,

this pair of nike was the exception rather than the rule, & is a replacement for a pair of 4-yr-old reebok that has been well- worned out.

i know kids nowadays are so brand conscious. i can't stop that but i can limit the purchase.

blessed christmas to you & your family!!
