the musical
there was a time when Sweden was famous not for her Volvos, Ikea or even Bjorn Borg, but for the musical exploits of Abba. although their Eurovision hit Waterloo passed me by without much ado, it was S.O.S, their hit of 1975 that meant something to me. i was doing my MCE exams (nowadays rebranded as SPM) & was torn between studying & getting distracted with a new-found pen-friend. it was dire straits....
fast-forward to 1999 & multiple hit songs later, their music have come to life again with the debut of Mamma Mia! the musical. i was fortunate to get complimentary tickets for the show at Istana Budaya on tuesday & i came away with this verdict - much, much better than the movie (pierce brosnan couldn't sing to save his life) & you just can't stop stomping feet with the beat.
thank you for the music, guys!!

No one can sing the way Abba delivers their rendition. I just can't believe Pierce Brosnan sings!!!! He had better stick to his role as Bond, James Bond.
Iml,
no one else can do justice to the Abba songs, & certainly not cover versions.
Abba is Abba and I do agree that no one can do their cover songs.
(:
Kyels,
some things just can't & shouldn't be imitated.
;)
Complimentary tickets to Mamma Mia? Gee! How lucky can some people get! Saw the musical in Singapore some years back ane yes, the movie (though not bad) doesn't come anywhere near the musical experience! Your later post on your kid going to school reminds me of the song from the musical/movie - "Slipping through my fingers"...
Suituapui,
without the complimentary tickets, we probably would not have seen the show, but then, we know everything works for good to those that love Him.
when the boy is in school, my wife misses him more than i do. Slipping Through My Fingers seems appropriate for the occasion!
