spelling bee

just heard from the news that a 13-yr-old indian-american has won this year's US spelling bee competition. (read here)

the winning word? Laodicean.

which according to websters dictionary, refers to one indifferent to religion, caring little or nothing about the matter, like the Christians of that church, mentioned in the Book of Revelation.

To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation.
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. (rev 3: 14 -16)

which, please reprimand me if i'm wrong, also aptly describes the general state of christian believers these days. myself included.

The wonderful thing is that as we acknowledge and repent and follow Song of Solomon 2 v 15 ( catch the little foxes..whatever is causing the lukewarmness)...He is waiting with open warms to receive and forgive and we move on , PTL.

Well, as in all cases, for such matters, you can never be 100% right or 100% wrong.

After all, you did say 'general state' and faith is individualistic.

Just me,

i think i know what you mean, although i'm not sure if that verse is pertinent here.

Jonzz,

true. it's only a general statement.

We become lukewarm because of the "little foxes" ( have heard it preached in 2 sermons before, online and offline in this context) which distract us from our intimacy with God

Just me,

maybe so, although i still don't see the connection between foxes & luke-warmness in a love poem.
