it had been a hectic time. my colleague had on leave with his family & i covered his duty for a whole week. naturally, it was good for the pocket but the stress level also went up a few notches.
he just came back from the gold coast. he flew by air asia X & found the 8-hr flight bearable despite the seats not being able to recline. he probably could bear it, given his small physical stature. however, a few of the taller passengers found the seats uncomfortable, also because of the narrow knee space.
yes, now everyone can fly but i wonder if flying air asia X to london would be torture??

perhaps they have a bigger plane for London flight? otherwise better DON'T! yes, it is quite a torture for big frame people.. me small but still not comfortable.. :)
oh btw, how did your sermon go? is it this coming week?
my colleague told me air asia X will change to bigger planes for long haul next year.
the message in on Dec 20.
I flew via the cheap airline Sibu-KLIA-Penang return. The seats are hard and uncomfortable and being leather-bound and narrower, you may slip over the edge if you lean back and push your butt forward...and there is very little leg space, your knees keep hitting the seat in front, the acoustics are terrible - so it seems very noisy when people are talking...etc...etc...etc... And the LCCT is terrible! Like Puduraya bus station! I've flown Sibu-Kuching 30-40 minutes only, so it did not feel as bad then.
These days, I only use MAS...and during off-peak periods (not school holidays) and if you can get the everyday low fares/70% discount, it can be quite cheaper...at times, cheaper than the cheap airline and so much nicer and more comfortable.
They only say,"Now everyone can fly" they never say "Now everyone can fly in comfort" hahahahaha
going for stress free holiday soon? avoid LCCT during holiday season its crazy adrenaline rush push excuse me. Been there during off peak and yet its always people everywhere my 1st experience was a real eye opener of what Tony AK meant Now everybody can fly..
other carriers have reasonable fares sometimes, personally for long haul flights, I prefer free flow of drinks including water must have on board :)
I also wonder how Air Asia X flight to London will be?
You must made a good pocket monies from the covering of duty. Can use the money to indulge yourself a little more in your free time.
I flew Airasia X from KL to Melbourne and back in April, and suffered like mad. The seat reclining buttons were there but they were deactivated and I was sitting like General Pau throughout the journey. We booked one meal on-line, and when we wanted to buy a second meal later (it was 6-7 hours), so many items on the menu were not available. Now, I've placed a huge X across AAsia X.
talk abt air asia...nvr ever wanna fly with them anymore...
i nearly vomitted in the flight from PEN-KUL.. i went back to PEN using FF..prefer FF...
Airasia service was horrible also..keep on delaying...and wat more worse they actually ask for IC upon boarding..which make the queue even longer despite they delayed the flight..sick and tired..
I don't have to imagine that flying to London on Airasia X being a torture . It goes without saying - rite ?
STP,
i guess i've not flown often enough with air asia to realise their poor service. the furthest i've gone with them is to bangkok last year & everything went smoothly - they were even on time both ways!!
but after getting feedback from this post, it seems one has to be prepared to withstand the drawbacks on long haul flights with AA-X.
AA is having a sale now - i wonder how many tickets will be sold?
Eugene,
true - so they didn't deceive. i guess lost-cost flights cater to a different crowd.
Missyc,
i suppose the lost-cost flights themselves are an attraction by virtue of their prices. passengers using their services cannot ask for more than what they are prepared to pay.
Superman,
my other colleague flew AA-X to melbourne & he couldn't sleep the whole 8 HOURS!!
i have many items on my wish-list indulgences but given the current circumstances, i should be careful with expenditure.
Fishtail,
my colleague suffered the same fate just recently & swore never to travel long-haul with AA-X again!
so, it back to MAS, huh?
Mich,
maybe you were unwell when you travelled?
i supposed the IC check is to make sure the passenger is the one whose name is on the ticket.
Unicorn Girl,
you are absolutely right. being malaysian, i guess we are always trying to save here & there despite the disadvantages.
yeah, that's right - malaysians love torturing themselves!!
a while ago, i had 1 rule in taking AA, the flight must not be more than 5 hours....
now, i have more rules... the one mentioned above and a savings of more than RM500. If savings are less than 500, the flight must not be more than 1.5 hour.
otherwise... screw it... it's not worth the torture.
london on AA??? you gotta be kidding me.
another thing, when they say everyone can fly... it also means anyone can fly... sometimes, ppl just dont have plane ethics... disgusting.
ah ha, Zewt,
so that's how an auditor think!
i have an easier thumb of rule: if it doesn't give me a backache, it'll do. which roughly works out to: AA for asia only!
If I have to travel long distance, like to London for example, travelling in comfort would be my utmost priority, even if it means paying a higher fare. It's worth it! Short distance ok lah, I'll grit my teeth and bear with the discomfort.
Jo,
that make sense. air asia for asia only, right?
Ask for extra leg room. It's only about two inches extra but it becomes a lot more comfortable for the long legged.
Will be flying via jetstar later today, hope I'll be ok!
Anastasia,
you know malaysians, right? when we fly low-cost, we want the cheapest seats & not pay extra for the longer ones.
then we complain after that.
bon voyage!
