tears from heaven
the wake service was an eye-opener. having informed only the church, our relatives & closest colleagues & friends, & not placing an obituary notice in the papers, we were overwhelmed that a hundred people turned up at my humble abode, some having to stand barely within the canopy in the rain.
the pastor shared a message on life after death, following which my daughter & i delivered the eulogy. i've always dreamed of speaking to an audience with standing room only & that partly came true. i mentioned tongue-in-cheek that my father must have been pleased with what i had to say, equating the falling rain to tears from heaven.
overheard was a comment made by a taoist colleague, that he was suitably impressed that christian brothers & sisters often came in full support for each other & (such irony!) that none themselves have christian names.
wasn't it shakespeare who wrote that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet?

You should post the eulogy, doc.
Tears From Heaven.. touching title, yes.. if i m not mistaken, this song was sung by eric clapton for his son who has passed away...
Belated condolence 2u & family. He has moved on to a better place called HOME & the ones he left behind now will find peace he is suffering no more.
Its funny how some people think Christians must have 'western' names. I'm always asked am I a Christian because of my western sounding name before my surname!
Jems,
i didn't have a prepared text - i just spoke on what i could muster at that time.
Claire,
yes, clapton wrote & sang the song.
Ms45,
thanks.
similarly, i have friends whose real names are Peter, Thomas & John, & they are buddhists through & through.
Sorry to hear about your dad. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
Jonzz,
