the circus comes to town

in this circus...

the clowns are the guys running the show & they drive everyone nuts. at 1st, it was in english, then BM, then english again & soon to be in BM all over again.

it's like, now you see it, now you don't.

can't really blame the ministry people - they're just following orders.

as a result, it sure feels like we, the parents, are walking on a tightrope...

the teachers can't make head or tail what's happening....

while the poor students are treated like spectator sports

actually, the circus already started last month; it's called UPSR & it continues tomorrow as PMR. it runs till the end of the year as SPM & STPM but it's not over till the fat lady sings...

because in a circus, you always get a few star performers thrown in.

(they're more famously called multiple straight As students)

have you got your tickets yet??

Every time there's a new ringmaster, there will be drastic changes. A policy is never implemented long enough to see its fruits. *sigh*

Nice analogy! And a bigger circus two years later...

I always tell my daughter and students - it's just a piece of paper. Get it! But what you will become later in life (a good doc, a good teacher, a good whatever) depends on WHO you are, not on those pieces of paper... So many of those useless ones around...and they ALL have those pieces of paper!

Met the VP of the school that your girl would be going to next year at the conference (read my blog, ha, ha, free publicity, I don't need to do that, right?) and told her that my friend's daughter would be joining her! Well, a very nice lady who leads like Jesus, I have no doubt about it - but don't ask me the name, I could not remember!

Claire,

the whole world's not really watching because we're just too insignificant, but our neighbours are.

i just think this exam issue is just one big circus - never cease to raise at least a good laugh/snigger.

Jems,

i just can't recall any good policy made since the time i was in school. i mean, like from this year's SPM, the old 1A & 2A grades will be changed to A+, A & A-. what difference is this going to make except that we now will have a big bunch of straight A+ students.

don't be surprised all this will be changed again in a few years.

STP,

well said. there are a lot graduates with useless pieces of papers & who can't string a proper sentence together at an interview.

i forgot to mention the side-shows that take place the following year called why-didn't-I-get-that-scholarship fiascos.

Yan,

the school advocated its Christian values, amongst others, at the promo & that sort of bought us over.

most of the parents are kiasu..what to do..

Wenn,

it's a vicious circle, isn't it? but then, if you don't evolve, then how to survive, esp. in this dog-eat-dog society?

so sad huh?

The people in the Comedy Court was spot on in their portrayal of the clowns.

Jo,

i read in the papers that the 2 portrayed female clerks in the education dept. sounds hilarious!
