timing is everything

supertition dictates that the chinese traditionally don't (usually) marry, travel nor have their surgeries during the "ghost month", for fear that something unfortunate may happen.

i just found out that the british public have their own superstition - a taboo for junior doctors & apparently august is not a good month to be in a NHS hospital.
(read here)

but timing IS everything, isn't it? how else could you have that chance meeting with a long lost friend? how did that freak accident occur? without fortuitous timing, a movie like Final Destination would not have been conceived.

many a time, i too wonder about the events that happened in my life, like how an
encounter with a bunch of enthusiastic Christian workers eventually led me to med school. or, how a weekend magazine forged a meeting with a stranger i ended up marrying. i now know it as divine interventon.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
eccles 3:11

Ya, like my wife always said, timing is very important. When the time is pass, you will never be able to get back the type of feelings you had at that time. Life is full of surprises.

wow! How true! Timing IS everything! There's just too many too many instances in my life that this has been proven to be so. How can one not believe it??

so uncanny, since u mentioned it. last yr I remembered my surgeon looking at a thick register & commented with surprise that op theatre was fully booked during so called taboo month. And we agreed on 1st available date which happened to be my late father in law (whom I've never met) date of death. Day of op, I was not afraid as I asked his late dad to protect me.. all I think of that time was get rid of the tumor ghost month or not :)

each culture has its own set of taboos.

life is full of surprises & disappointments.

if we had seized the moment, perhaps we could turn some of the disappointments to pleasant surprises?

this is probably true in everyone's life.

hope most of those instances were happy ones!

glad everything turned out well for you during "taboo month".

All I know is that nothing happened by chance. What seems like random events and coincidences are actually all planned : )

well said. in which case, we should all sleep easy, knowing there's not much we can consciously do to alter our destiny.

Just learnt that in the hebrew language, there is no word with the

meaning "co-incidence"

Just me

Just me,

so i wonder what word is used to describe it?

Anonymous said...

Meaning that every circumstance is led by God so coincidence doesnt exist

just me

Just me,

divine intervention is the believers' concept of co-incidence.
