age of decadence?

i am a regular guy.

i buy regular stuff (read: mostly when on offer) & i drive regular cars (read: B-class Japanese).

which is why i cannot fathom why people in not-yet-1st-world malaysia would pay this much for a meal....yes, just ONE meal!

not exactly exquisite continental cuisine but just a buffet dinner at a local hotel....so i imagine there must a quite a number of irregular guys out there!

I think I did pay a little more than this amount per person to eat at a buffet before but then that buffet includes bottomless champagne.

Mun,

one can eat & drink a lot more in the younger days but not at middle age.

I've stopped buffet dinners for many years now.

Yes, I agree. That one I mentioned was like 10 years ago. Nowadays I don't go for buffet anymore.

I can't imagine forking that kind of money for a buffet. For a tasting menu at a michelin-starred restaurant maybe; but definitely not a buffet. I am a cheapskate, only go for these kind of buffet if someone else is paying. Heehee

buffet....the definition of which is the clearing of perishable produce that will otherwise go bad and past its use by date. ok, maybe not for posh 5 star hotels. :p

Mun,

we should not only act our age, but eat our age as well!!

Andrea,

obviously these extravagant buffets aren't meant for commoners like us!!

Me,

i've often wondered what the fate of all that uneaten food at the end of the day?
